The Sunshine Coast Art Prize is presented by the Friends Regional Gallery Caloundra Incorporated.
The Prize is an initiative of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and principal partner Friends of Caloundra Regional Gallery Inc.
The Sunshine Coast Art Prize is an acquisitive painting and 2D art award. The award is a $15,000 cash prize plus a 4 week residency in Maleny, Sunshine Coast Hinterland to the value of $5,000.
The residency is to be taken up within 12 months of the award. It includes accommodation, travel and a stipend. During the residency the winning artist is required to undertake activities that will engage the community i.e. workshop, demonstration and/or talk. These will be facilitated by the Caloundra Regional Art Gallery.
A non-acquisitive Highly Commended Prize of $2,000 and Commended Prize of $1,000 is announced at the launch.
The non-acquisitive People’s Choice Prize to the value of $2,500 will be announced at the end of the exhibition.
Entries must be the original unaided work of the entrant, executed within two years prior to the closing date.
No third party may enter a work on behalf of an artist.
Participants will be selected from entries submitted to the preselection panel. Any artist working in Australia in any painting or 2D medium may enter.
The Sunshine Coast Art Prize Management Committee will invite 40 artists recommended by the preselection panel to exhibit one work in The Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2010.
PRESELECTION PROCESS
Artists wishing to enter The Sunshine Coast Art Prize should provide the following to the preselection panel by 31 March 2010.
- Official Entry Form – (available via the website, email or post).
- 3 images only of 3 different original works completed between 2008 and 2010. To be submitted online as part of the online application or via post on CD with the complete entry form and payment

- One page CV
- Entry fee $25 per artist (non-refundable).
The images submitted to the preselection panel must include the work intended for the Prize. Please send images to the preselection panel in the formats described. No additional material, text or images will be viewed by the panel.

PARTICIPATION IN PRIZE
Following the preselection process, artists will be advised promptly of the outcome, and those artists invited to participate will receive further advice.
The artworks will be exhibited at the Sunshine Coast Art Prize exhibition (18 August - 3 October 2010) at the Caloundra Regional Gallery, Sunshine Coast Queensland.
All works will be offered for sale. The Friends Regional Gallery Caloundra Inc will deduct a commission of 25% from the sale price of all work sold.
Size: Artwork for the Prize must not have one side more than 1.5m in length. They must be framed (a stretched canvas is considered framed).
Eligible Art Work: Art work that is flat, possessing height and width, but no depth, such as a drawing, print, photograph, textile or work on canvas are eligible for the Prize. Bas or low relief art work in which materials protrude slightly from a flat background to depth of no more than 50mm are also eligible.
The Friends Regional Gallery Caloundra Inc is the sole owner of the information collected from the entry forms and any other information submitted, and will not sell, share or rent the information to others except for the sole purpose of advertising or promoting The Sunshine Coast Art Prize.

SUBMITTING IMAGES
- 3 Images only of 3 different artworks
- Format jpeg only (300dpi, min. 1MB and max. 1.5MB )
- Each filename should be clearly labelled with the artist's; surname (capitals), first name (lowercase)
- number of work submitted. eg. SMITH, John 1.jpg, SMITH, John 2.jpg, SMITH, John 3.jpg
- The file number must correspond with entry form number
- Please note, when applying online, the system will automatically include your username at the beginning of the filename.
