The one that got away, Graphite & charcoal, 345mm (frame not included in measurement) x 360mm (frame not included in measurement), 2009
Artist StatementThis is a Trompe L'oeil style drawing that illustrates the allure of fishing to many people. The drawn photograph and masking tape signifies a fishermen’s ‘big catch’ and their desire to preserve the moment for everyone to see. However the fact that the lure has fallen out of the (drawn) photograph without the elusive fish on the hook shows, that with fishing & life in general, one can often come up empty handed hence the title the ’The one that got away’.
