SCAP 2010 - ROGERS, Judy
Ms Maki (diptych), Mixed Medium: acrylic paint on board, lead and charcoal pencil. The boards are carefully selected for their grain patterns not just to coexist with the artwork, but emphasize the topic., 45 cm each x 45 cm each, 2010
Artist StatementHer works’ aesthetic is associated with a sense of exaggerated sentimentality and melodrama. She renders habitually domestic scenes with emotional, glamorous and theatrical tone. The size is often small and intimate. She likes to display these as a series to help to tell the story. The story behind her work is the exhausting saga of everyday life. Her model was a lady from the local Japanese restaurant. Ms Maki’s stirring face inspired this diptych.
